Digitalis mertonensis

Digitalis mertonensis is another one of my favourite foxgloves.  The bell-shaped flowers are large and are of a pink liked crushed strawberries with a buff overcast.  It is a shorter grower than some varities and so is better for w windy situation.  The large rosettes of evergreen leaves look attractive even without flowers adding an extra dimension.  Best in any reasonable humus rich soil in sun or part-shade.  Look good in any border, in front of walls, fences or in woodland and natural planting schemes.
