Lonicera japonica 'Red World' (Japanese honeysuckle)
Lonicera japonica 'Red World' is a vigorous, woody, semi-evergreen twining climber up to about 8-10 m tall in 5-10 years. Dark, green leaves up to 8 cm long flushed purple-bronze in winter. Very fragrant, tubular rich pink flowers with a creamy-white throat are produced in pairs from deep red buds. Long flowering from spring to late summer followed by blue-black berries. Any reasonable moist but well-drained soil in sun/part-shade. Grows best in part-shade but tolerates full sun. Hardy but needs a sheltered position.
