Stipa extremiorentalis (Mexican Feather Grass)

Stipa extremiorentalis is native to Siberia & therefore extremely hardy withstanding temperatures down to -15 C-20 C. A tight growing deciduous, clump former with pale green leaves & tall, airy arching stems with drooping panicles of yellow-green or purple spikelets from April to November which eventually turn almost black. It makes an attractive transparent screen with leaves that sway & rustle in the breeze. Seed heads remain on the plant from autumn through winter. Grows well to approx. 1.5 m x 75 cm spread in any reasonable well-drained soil in sun/part-shade. 

Plant with Achillea varieties for an attractive combination.
